Events like the 2023 Global Sports Indian Pickleball Open — the first-ever international pickleball event held on Indian soil at the Panjim Gymkhana in the picturesque state of Goa — and the PWR DUPR India Masters scheduled for October 2024 at New Delhi’s R.K. Khanna Tennis Complex, which expected to see 750 players going head to head with each other, is a testament to the sport’s growing popularity in the country.
It has produced some prominent Indian players on the global stage. Asian top-ranked pickleball player Armaan Bhatia bagged the titles of men’s singles, mixed doubles and men’s doubles at the PWR DUPR India Masters. In August 2023, Mayur Patil from Maharashtra won a silver medal in the open category at the English Open. The Indian contingent also won four gold media and two bronze at the Asian Open Pickleball Championship 2024 in Vietnam.
Work is underway to build 100 courts in the U.S. The game is also thriving in Andhra Pradesh, specifically in Vijayawada, where enthusiasts enjoy the sport with local clubs and courts. As the All India Pickleball Association continued to support and promote pickleball development all over.
