Understanding the Role: What Does an SDE Intern Do at Amazon? Interns at Amazon do not work on simulated exercises; they build and deploy scalable software that directly impacts customers. You will be matched with a dedicated manager and mentor to guide your professional development.

Your core technical responsibilities will include:

  • Distributed Systems Engineering: Designing and building innovative technologies in large distributed computing environments to solve complex challenges involving scalability, fault tolerance, and low-cost storage.

  • Cloud Integration: Working heavily with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to iterate backend services and personalize customer experiences.

  • Agile Software Delivery: Writing clean, maintainable code to solve broadly defined problems and deliver high-quality software within an agile environment.

Eligibility Criteria Amazon has strict eligibility guidelines for this specific internship drive:

  • Target Batch: You must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with a strict graduation year of 2027.

  • Core Computer Science Skills: A strong foundation in object-oriented design (OOD), operating systems, data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.

  • Programming Languages: High proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl.

  • Availability: Candidates must commit to a full-time 40-hour work week for 24 to 26 consecutive weeks without academic conflicts.

Resume and Interview Preparation Tips To bypass the ATS, ensure your resume highlights practical applications of data structures and any previous exposure to relational databases or distributed multi-tiered systems.
