PLAYER OF THE MATCH:
Rajasthan Royals’ middle-phase dominance last season was largely due to the experienced spin duo of Ravi Ashwin and Yuzi Chahal. However, they made the decision to let them go before the mega auction, and early signs indicate this could lead to significant trouble for the Royals in the current season. Their replacements, Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga, are struggling to fill the shoes left behind. Theekshana lacks Ashwin’s control, while Hasaranga doesn’t quite match Chahal’s wicket-taking ability. Additionally, Trent Boult’s exploits with the new ball have no obvious replacement in the new squad. It’s a challenging start for Riyan Parag as captain, but the silver lining is that he likely only needs to lead once more this season.
De Kock’s 97* is now the second-highest score in run-chases against Rajasthan Royals, behind only Devdutt Padikkal’s 101* for RCB at Wankhede in 2021. Match-6|RR VS KKR|KKR Won the Match

Quinton de Kock | Player of the Match:
“It’s nice to get my opportunity and make it count. Haven’t faced many challenges after my international retirement. I had three months off, so it was nice to get some rest. I only had a 10-day build-up to the season. In this game, I could watch the wicket and adjust. It wasn’t the moment for big sixes, it was about doing what I do best and winning the match. I’m happy with how the team has welcomed me. It’s been great joining KKR.” Match-6|RR VS KKR|KKR Won the Match
Ajinkya Rahane:
“Our bowlers were excellent in the first six overs, and the middle overs were key, especially with how the spinners controlled things. Moeen Ali stepped up and bowled brilliantly. In this format, we want players to be fearless, to play with freedom, and Moeen did just that with the ball. It’s all about staying in the moment and learning from each game.”
Moeen Ali:
“It’s been nice. I’ve been practicing well and was told this morning Sunil Narine wasn’t well. It’s hard to replace Sunil, but I think I did a decent job. It was a wicket where you could spin the ball, and I enjoyed that. This is a very balanced side with some amazing players, and I’m just trying to improve at 37. It’s tough to get in with the competition, but when I do, I want to make the most of my chances.” Match-6|RR VS KKR|KKR Won the Match
Riyan Parag:
“170 was always going to be a good score, and that was our aim. Personally, I rushed a bit, given the wicket here. We fell short by 20 runs, and the plan was to get Quinny out early, but that didn’t happen. We shifted to containing in the middle overs. He played well, and credit to him. I’m okay batting wherever the team wants me to; I just want to be professional about it. Our team is younger than last year, and we’re improving in small phases. It’s about putting together a complete match. We’ll learn from our mistakes and come back stronger for the Chennai game.” Match-6|RR VS KKR|KKR Won the Match
