PLAYER OF THE MATCH:
Days like these can really help you grow. Rutherford might be feeling down today, but he’s got the talent to bounce back. This is an opportunity for him to improve. It all comes down to attitude, and those with the right mindset don’t stay down for long. Yesterday was about the brilliance of Ashutosh and Vipraj, while today was filled with highs and lows. What can we expect tomorrow? That’s the beauty of the IPL – you never know what’s coming next. Rest up and join us for the match between RR and KKR tomorrow. Goodbye for now! Crucial moments in the game:
- Shreyas Iyer telling Shashank not to worry about his hundred and keep attacking Siraj in the final over – PBKS scored 23 runs in that over.
- The unexpected wicket of Gill by Maxwell – it’s almost like Maxwell has a knack for forcing right-hand batters into mishits, caught over cover despite being taken for runs in the same over.
- Arshdeep outfoxing Sai with some clever angles and getting him out.
- PBKS made a major comeback, especially in overs 11 to 14, where they scored 17, 17, 14, and 17 runs. But then, in overs 15 to 17, they only managed 5, 8, and 5 runs. GT lost the game in that phase when Vyshak became a hero with his wide yorkers, and Rutherford failed to adjust, which cost them the match.
Shreyas Iyer | PoTM:
Scoring 97* in the season opener was a great feeling. I started with a boundary, and that set the tone for me. The flick six off Rabada was a highlight, and Shashank’s 44 off 16-17 balls was crucial. We set a benchmark to go for the win. The dew was a factor, and thankfully Shashank delivered. (On Vyshak) He’s a funny character with the right attitude. He bowled those yorkers perfectly and stayed calm. Arshdeep played a key role in that by suggesting we start the wide yorkers earlier, and it worked. We’ve been preparing hard, and everyone chipped in with ideas. We’ll carry this momentum forward into the next matches.
Arshdeep Singh:
The plan was simple – make them hit to the off-side, which is tough to do. If they hit a good shot, we’d just clap and keep going. (On Vyshak) I’m really happy for him. He’s been putting in the work and executing those yorkers in practice, and it showed in the game. Our plan was to miss on the wide side, as even if it slips, it’s hard for the batter to reach. Credit to the batters who attacked from ball one. In T20s, there’s no par score – just keep scoring as much as you can and then defend it. Match-5|PBKS VS GT|GT Won the Match
Shubman Gill:
We had our chances while batting and bowling, but we gave away too many runs and let ourselves down in the field. The middle three overs, where we only scored 18 runs, really hurt us. We didn’t get enough runs early on either. But there were positives – a good start to the tournament. (On Vyshak) It’s never easy for an Impact player to come in after sitting on the bench for 15 overs and bowl those yorkers, but they executed well. Credit to them. It’s a good batting wicket, but you also need to restrict the opposition. Match-5|PBKS VS GT|GT Won the Match
