What a night for the Orange Army!
Whether Abhishek Sharma had that heartfelt note ready before the game or scribbled it down in the moment, one thing’s for sure — this night belonged to him. And somewhere, watching on with immense pride, was his mentor and one of India’s finest white-ball all-rounders, Yuvraj Singh. This one will feel extra special for him too.
It’s a night SRH fans will cherish. After enduring four back-to-back losses, the team bounced back in a way that felt straight out of a script. The win — and the sheer dominance of it — couldn’t have come at a better time. Names like Warner, Williamson, Cummins, Klaasen, Head, Abhishek — the SRH hall of fame keeps growing, and how!
And the action doesn’t stop here. The IPL double-header madness continues tomorrow: the Battle of Royals in Jaipur, followed by DC vs MI in Delhi. Don’t miss those — they promise fireworks. For now, it’s a wrap from Raju Peethala, alongside Anurag Hegde, Nikhil Jadhav, and Venky. Cheers and goodnight!
Abhishek Sharma | Player of the Match:
“It’s not easy when you’re going through a rough patch. Credit to the team and captain — their message to us batters was simple and supportive. I had a great chat with Travis before the game, and it turned out to be a special night for both of us.
I usually don’t play much behind the wicket, but I was trying to innovate today because of the bounce and dimensions of this pitch. The entire team’s waiting for my parents — they bring good luck to the Orange Army!
We didn’t overthink, just played our natural game. Personally, I really wanted to break the losing streak. It’s tough, especially as a youngster, but the team spirit stayed positive. A big shoutout to Yuvi paaji — we’ve been talking regularly. And also to Suryakumar Yadav, who’s been guiding me too.”
Pat Cummins | SRH Captain:
“This was amazing! The pitch suits our style — good bounce and carry, and we knew what to expect. As a bowler, if you go for under 10 an over on a surface like this, it’s a win. Sounds crazy, but we felt pretty confident even chasing that huge total.
Abhishek’s knock? Loved it. We didn’t feel the need to change anything drastic. The core batting group from last season is still intact, and we trust their ability. Also, hats off to our fans — they’re incredible. The flags, the energy… everything.”
Travis Head:
“Not bad at all, huh? Feels great to be back on the winners list. It was a much-needed win, especially considering how things looked at the halfway mark. We kept it simple — gave ourselves a bit of time early on, and then went hard.
Abhishek and I have built a good understanding. We played the way we did last year: backing each other, choosing our moments, and attacking when it felt right. That wicket’s produced some monster totals, and chasing 240 meant everything had to click. And it did.
Oh, and that banter with Maxwell and Stoinis? All in good fun — when you know each other well, things can get fiery and funny at the same time.”
Shreyas Iyer | PBKS Captain:
“I genuinely thought 230 was a fantastic total. Still can’t believe they chased it with two overs left! Sure, we missed a couple of chances — and Abhishek rode his luck — but credit where it’s due, he was outstanding.
We didn’t bowl to plan, and we’ll need to revisit a few things. The opening partnership completely shut us out. Maybe we could’ve rotated the bowlers better. Lockie Ferguson is always a wicket-taker, but sometimes, things just don’t go your way — injuries are part of the game.
Me and Wadhera thought we had enough runs, but that second innings dew really didn’t help. And what can I say about that opening stand — Abhishek’s knock was one of the best I’ve seen live. Truly incredible.” Match-27|PBKS VS SRH|SRH WON THE MATCH|2025
